FCA COMMUNITY BASEBALL

Thank you for your interest in FCA Urban Baseball. We are a league of five middle school teams across the city of Atlanta and growing. FCA Urban Baseball has been around since 2010 when the first five teams started in Villages at Carver YMCA.

Today, our five teams compete for an 8-week season in the fall and spring, and we have a week long co-ed camp for ages 6-14 that takes place over the summer. FCA Urban Baseball has received honors for its significant impact as a community partner. The young men who participate in our league receive coaching and mentorship even as they grow from middle to high school.

Many who have graduated from our program return to serve as volunteer coaches. Our athletes even earn community service hours on overseas missions trips.

HIGHLIGHTS

A special THANK YOU to Peachtree Road UMC for providing 50 + backpacks this year for FCA Urban Baseball. Backpacks were delivered to players on the FCA Urban Baseball League at Fulton Leadership Academy, Drew Charter School and Wesley International Academy.

On FCA baseball championship weekend, West End beat KIPP Vision 4-3 on walk-off to win the ship.

Out of our five mission trips to the Dominican Republic, this was the most fulfilling thus far. Why? The people. We truly had a Dream Team of coaches (6, including me).

Also, I cannot take anything away from the eight high school sophomores from Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County, and Clayton County. THEY WERE FANTASTIC!

They worked hard. They played well together. AND, THEY SHARED THEIR HEART…EVEN TO THE POINT OF TEARS.

Thank you to YWAM San Pedro and FCA Baseball D.R. for all they did for us while we were there.

Our Director of Urban Baseball, Brent Slade, hosted 15  young men and 2 coaches at The Farm in Cordele, GA for the 2nd Annual FCA Urban Baseball Retreat in December. "WE HAD A BLAST!" The group competed in games such as Capture The Flag, Tire Tug, Rambo, and the retreat favorite…Mud Bowl (Touch Football). They ate well and talked about racism and sex and making good decisions…ALL  from a biblical perspective. They closed out the weekend by attending Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cordele, GA. as a group. Director Brent Slade presented Pastor Fred of Ebenezer Baptist with an FCA gift of gratitude for partnering with FCA Urban Baseball since 2010. SPECIAL THANKS TO COACHES TEVIN FREEMAN AND JACOB PRESSLEY FOR ATTENDING!

FCA Urban Atlanta is proud of our teammate Brent Slade for his recognition by The Villages At Carver YMCA. Brent was The Villages at Carver YMCA's honoree for "Volunteer of the Year".

He was awarded along with the honoree for each of the other 22 YMCAs in Metro Atlanta. Congratulations, Brent!
